First established in 1968 by the late Jimmy Choo Ph Hin, CPH Travel
is the pioneer of what the industry knows today as eco and cultural
tourism, having developed and created tours that allow guests a
first-hand experience of the locals’ traditional lifestyle.
Today, with third-generation leader Oscar Choo at the helm, MICE has
come to the forefront for the Kuching-based DMC, which has been working
closely with Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), the state convention
and visitor bureau, as well as local partners to attract more incentive
and convention groups to Sarawak.
As one of the biggest DMCs in Sarawak, boasting strength in its
manpower as well as its own fleet of coaches and boats, CPH Travel has
handled events including the 2017 World Islamic Economic Forum, 2018
Better Air Quality Conference, 2018 International Marine Conservation
Congress, and 2023 World Congress on Innovation and Technology.
Choo explains their strategy: “In partnership with BESarawak, we’ve
developed new products and services that focus on long-term legacy
impacts. We’re aiming to expand the value and increase the overall ROI
of business events through these impacts. One initiative we’ve created
with BESarawak is the bookshare programme.”
He adds: “We’re looking to expand CSR programmes and enhance the
legacy for congresses and associations visiting Sarawak. As a DMC, we’re
exploring ways to create lasting impacts in collaboration with other
associations.”
