There’s nothing to rival the thrill of watching reporters fearlessly chase down their leads on screen, or that of anchors who ace every story that lands on their desk. When it comes to engaging Kdramas, those based on journalism are hard to beat (pun intended). We take a look at a few worth adding to your watch list.
One of the finest examples of the phrase ‘art imitates life’ is the world created by Korean dramas — where characters are as diverse as the storylines themselves. The industry has delved deep into several professions — from law to medicine to sports to entertainment. No surprise that it often spotlights a note-pad clad, bespectacled or immaculately dressed reporter — either chasing down a story, assisting the protagonists to take down the bad guy, or striving to secure the latest scoop on a celebrity. Then there are a few Kdramas that look into the world of journalism specifically, laying out exactly what goes behind the scenes of breaking news and other forms of reportage. Needless to say, these are quite engaging. Here are a few we’re tuning into.
