China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway planned to be extended to West and South Asia – China Railway
AKIPRESS.COM – The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will be extended to West and South Asia in future, China State Railway Group Co., Ltd said.
The company said the intergovernmental agreement, which was earlier signed in Beijing, will accelerate construction of the railway.
“China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will start in Kashgar, Xinijang, will run through Kyrgyzstan and will enter Uzbekistan. In future its further extension to West and South Asia is planned,” the company said.
President Sadyr Japarov has signed the law on ratification of the intergovernmental agreement on June 27.
China Railway International will be responsible for ?ngineering, procurement and construction under the project.
The length of the railway on the territory of Kyrgyzstan will make 311.76 km. Construction of 18 railway stations, 81 bridges and 41 tunnels is planned.
The length of bridges and tunnels will make 146.49 km or 47% of length of the railway on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
