Lakshya – that’s the name on everyone’s lips as Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s action thriller Kill hits theatres today. There couldn’t be a better day to drop our red-hot cover featuring the debutant who’s set Bollywood buzzing.
It’s been a while since a debutant has created such a buzz in the film industry even before the release of his movie. Backed by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, Lakshya is the lead star in Kill which is being touted as one of the best action films to come out in a long, long time. And having seen the film a few days ago, we agree.

“When I saw his audition, in two minutes, I knew that we were going to do something solid and special with him. I hadn’t seen anything of his on TV; I hadn’t seen the show he had done, which was immensely liked. I literally saw that two-and-a-half-minute audition and was like ‘We have to cast him.’ It was just an instinct, and I remember feeling that instinct when I auditioned Alia (Bhatt) in 2011 when we were casting for Student of the Year,” Karan Johar had said at the trailer launch of Kill, heaping high praise on Lakshya. It is no secret that Alia Bhatt is one of Bollywood’s finest actors and to be compared to her at this point in his career is a tremendous achievement.
While most debutants are naturally hyped before their launch, there’s something different about this one. For starters, Lakshya has done a phenomenal job in Kill as army commando Captain Amrit who blazes across train bogeys and teaches a family of dacoits what happens when you mess with the wrong guy. “It’s been years since we’ve seen such a strong debut performance, especially in a film as challenging as this. Lakshya takes this complex, wild character and makes it his own. He is aided by solid writing from Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, who also directed the movie. The action sequences he’s part of are buoyed by masterful cinematography by Rafey Mehmood,” we had noted in our review of the movie.
Our cover shoot with Lakshya was a fun one – we had The House of Pixels on board to shoot the photos and Mohit Rai and his team styled the Kill star in some sharp looks. Mahima Waccher Salvi and Team Haakim Aalim did the makeup and hair respectively for the shoot. Overall, we had a great time working on this and cannot wait to share the pictures and videos with you.
