Moulin Rouge meets The Great Gatsby was the theme at Sofitel’s 60th Anniversary celebrations and it was nothing short of spectacular. if we may say so ourselves.
Opulent feathers and sequins glinted as the crème de la crème of Mumbai’s haute société came out to party in style for the soirée that was elegantly curated with Lifestyle Asia India and Travel and Leisure. Vibrant shades of red lent towards the perfect backdrop.
With 120 properties across 40 countries and five continents, luxury hotel brand Sofitel has established a global presence with its modern take on French excellence. We joined the brand in celebrating its 60-year journey in June with a glamorous showcase of all things French and Moulin Rouge. Sofitel Mumbai BKC was painted in red for the night, with cascading red curtains, pearls, feathers, and all; accented with crystals and red lighting.
The ambience was truly Moulin Rouge in all aspects, including feathered cabaret performances, live violins, saxophones and cello performances throughout the evening. To add to the glamour was a perfume bar curated by Scentido, in theme with the famed French love for fragrances – from where the guests could try and receive unique perfumes. And the French hospitality wasn’t limited to just the champagne and wine – delectable appetisers floated throughout the evening too.
The evening began with a speech by Sofitel Mumbai BKC’s General Manager, Manish Dayya as he reflected on the brand’s 60-year milestone and its presence in Mumbai over the past 12 years. The Chief Guest for the evening was Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet, Consul General of France in Mumbai, who also spoke on India and France’s ties and history together. Rahul Gangwani, Editor–in–chief of Lifestyle Asia India, and Simon Clays, Editorial Director of Travel + Leisure, also shared their thoughts on the longstanding partnership between the publications and Sofitel.
With champagne pouring, and our guests revelling in exciting performances and conversations; we celebrated the evening in style. The theme for the night was Gatsby Chic, and boy did our guests get the memo right. Red dresses, tailored suits, bow ties and hand gloves; it was Moulin Rouge meets Gatsby Chic down to the last pearl. The evening was also well-attended by actors Satyajeet Dubey, Abhishek Bajaj, Chintan Rachh, Kusha Kapila, Gurfateh and Mehreen Pirzada, Mihir Ahuja, Kritika Kamra, producer Tanuj Garg and other notable personalities like Malini Agarwal, Aastha Shah, Rij Eappen, Rizwan Bachav, Mohit Rai, Glorius Luna and Kristien Riyat.
