Australian businesses have been warned they are too focused on China and North Asia and have failed to take advantage of explosive growth in South-East Asia, where other countries have gained a foothold in investment opportunities.
Foreign Minister Penny Wong said Australian businesses’ narrow focus on those regions meant the country was struggling to keep pace with the billions of investment dollars pouring into South-East Asia from the likes of China and the United States, which had doubled in recent times.
