Singapore’s newest lifestyle destination, New Bahru by The Lo & Behold Group, is counting down to its official grand opening in September 2024. While still months away, the highly anticipated creative enclave will hold a preview in June 2024. Here are the programmes and activities to look forward to at the New Bahru ‘Sneak Peek’ weekend.
New Bahru, the first lifestyle development by The Lo & Behold Group, will satisfy the citizens’ burning curiosity about its space for a weekend only this June by holding a ‘Sneak Peek’. Think of this event as their take on a ‘moving-in party’ that showcases progress in progress.
Organised in collaboration with cultural agency PPURPOSE, the two-day preview offers a taste of Singapore’s creative spirit with a series of exclusive pop-ups and experiences. PPURPOSE consists of dedicated advocates who instil purpose and life into spaces, communities, and experiences.
Programme and activity highlights at New Bahru ‘Sneak Peek’ Weekend
Held on 22 and 23 June 2024, the ‘Sneak Peek’ Weekend at New Bahru will host workshops, classes, special menus, and exclusive drops.
Highlights from New Bahru tenants include: soilboy’s hands-on Bonsai Wiring & Styling Workshop for Variegated Juniper Shimpaku where participants can learn how to shape, wire, repot and transform a rustic tree into a bonsai centrepiece. Shoppers can bring an old t-shirt and get it upcycled into a bag at MAKE by GINLEE (complimentary for the first 100 visitors) or shoppers can experience the full Tee-tO-Bag Experience at a promotional price. Explore sustainability with artistry at Crafune’s New Bahru-exclusive mini leather upcycling workshops. Families can co-design one-of-a-kind apparel and customise merchandise with workshops at The Sea Apple Create Store. Complimentary gift bag for the first 50 customers. Enjoy a flight of five makgeollis at $40 or makkoli by the glass at $12 from 12 noon to 5pm at Odem.
‘Sneak Peek’ also invites external vendors to join the celebrations. Crane Living and Basheer Graphics Books collaborate for the first time to present a creative living room pop-up at New Bahru.
The quaint foyer space within New Bahru that sits above its original shop at the former Herencia, transforms into a cosy living area. Design lovers can look forward to a curation of lifestyle and design books and objects, as well as a small selection of independently published magazines.
Co-curricular Activities (CCAs), a nod to the after-school staple, will take place at the Lawn in the late afternoon with a roster of music acts by professionals in the creative industry and their DJ alter egos, like Daytime Dancing (Executive Creative Director of The Secret Little Agency), Arunditha (performance artist and writer) and BRIAN (photographer at Island Boys).
Outside, visitors can enjoy Singapore’s tallest outdoor communal slide at the Oatside Funside Playground. In addition, participants can get competitive and collect as many oat milk miniatures as possible in just 15 seconds with Oatside’s signature Pocket Pack Challenge.
New Bahru also welcomes new additions to the tenant community such as CLOS | Deli & Wine House, LVT by Lisa Von Tang, PeiPer and POV by The Missing Piece.
New Bahru’s ‘Sneak Peek’ Weekend will happen on June 22 and 23 at 46 & 58 Kim Yam Road. Opening hours: 10am to 10pm. More information on the tenants’ operating hours can be found on their respective websites.
