On October 30, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with visiting Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov of Tajikistan, who was in China for the fourth Foreign Ministers’ Conference of the Istanbul Process on Afghanistan.
Wang Yi spoke positively of the unique role of Tajikistan in the Istanbul Process and expressed his hope that the two sides could enhance communication and coordination to help Afghanistan realize peaceful reconstruction and smooth transition.
Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping and President Emomali Rakhmon have visited each other’s country and held multiple meetings, leading bilateral relations to achieve leapfrog development. China is willing to join efforts with Tajikistan to earnestly implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, deepen bilateral practical cooperation in energy, infrastructure and other fields, and build the “One Belt One Road” so as to constantly push China-Tajikistan relations for new results.
Sirojiddin Aslov said that Tajikistan and China have carried out sound cooperation on the Afghan issue and Tajikistan will support and cooperate with China to well organize the Foreign Ministers’ Conference tomorrow.
Sirojiddin Aslov expressed that President Xi Jinping paid a historic state visit to Tajikistan this September, which brought bilateral friendly cooperation to a new climax in Tajikistan. Tajikistan places great expectation on bilateral economic and trade cooperation and hopes that bilateral cooperation in energy, communication, telecommunications, finance and other fields could realize greater progress.
Both sides exchanged views on the Host’s Partners Dialogue of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Informal Leaders’ Meeting. Sirojiddin Aslov noted that President Emomali Rakhmon is looking forward to attending the Dialogue in China, and Tajikistan firmly supports and will participate more in the building of the “One Belt One Road” and believes that the Dialogue is conducive to enhancing connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region and better building the “One Belt One Road”.
